Airsoft Innovations Propane Adapter Quick Review

AIRSOFT INNOVATIONS PROPANE ADAPTER QUICK REVIEW
By Lon

Gas gun owners, do you like spending 13 bucks a bottle on a 1100 ml green gas can? Yeah, me neither. Thank God Tnj sells it for a reasonable $13, unlike that one place at the mall. $35? What a rip off... those days before TnJ were sad days for a GBB owner.

But either way, you'll use up all that gas, and bam, you need to spend another 13 bucks to shoot your GBB/NBB again.

Well, the Airsoft Innovations (AI) Propane adapter can help reduce your airsoft gas-buying costs dramatically. According to the founder of AI, green gas IS propane, just without the lube, and with some other fancy chemicals added. I don't think is 100% true despite the extensive tests he used to "prove" that green gas is propane, but it's safe to say that there's little doubt that the two gases are similar. That, and some green gas cans actually list "propane" as a main ingredient... so that tells you something. Check out Airsoft Innovation's page to see the arguments/tests.

...And in case you didn't know, your standard can of propane usually goes for 3 bucks at K-Mart (camping section). Compare that to a 13 buck can of green gas! Propane tanks are built way better than ANY green gas can ever be, and I believe they also hold more gas, despite being shorter... but don't take my word for that. One thing that you shouldn't do while using the propane adapter is SMOKING. Smoking near a can of propane is just as bad as smoking near a can of green gas, although since propane is KNOWN to be super flammable, people would assume green gas isn't. Well, it is. So don't smoke when filling your mags with gas. End of story.

A gas gun's power with propane is reported to be a bit stronger than with green gas, maybe around 10 or so fps more if I were to estimate. ONE sure thing that green gas has an advantage over propane is that it doesn't smell so bad. Actually, it smells pretty good. Kinda like roses. But propane smells like rotten eggs mixed with ****. Here's a tip: COLEMAN brand propane is the stinkiest brand out there... buy NORTHWEST TERRITORY brand propane if you can't take the stink. It smells a whole lot less than Coleman (I actually smell the smell of green gas when filling with it), and it's cheaper, too. 6 bucks for two cans; Coleman is 4 bucks for 1. One important thing you should get along with the propane adapter is some silicon oil, as propane does not have it, unlike green gas supposedly does. Just drop some in the propane tank's top every 3-5 mags and fill away.

So hopefully that cleared things up for you potential propane users. The AI propane adapter has problably been one of the wisest airsoft purchases I have EVER made. It's payed it's 40 buck pricetag tenfold, seriously. TnJ has the adaptor for a very reasonable $40. Ordering online wouldn't save you much $$$, so don't even bother, just get it locally!

PROS
+ Totally worth it
+ Well made
+ Saves you a whole lot of $$$ in the long run

CONS
- Filling nozzle is a BIT sensitive, keep it out of harm's way
- Most propane cans STINK, look for Northwest Territory!
- Somewhat high price tag of $40, but it pays itself off

OVERALL: 10/10
