Rommel Hare

if you guys didn't know...rommel hare is leaving wednesday morning at about 6am. i would like to take a moment to thank the guy and what he has done for airsoft.

rommel was actually one of the first peeps that i know of that played airsoft. this was back in the days when the plastic see through guns from k-mart would scare da bejesus outta the neighbors while playing in the backyard. sure he invited me and our other friends to try it out. we were relunctant to play it and i personally thought it was another fancy word for "paintball." it wasn't till the spur of the momment when my friends and i decided to buy ourselves some k-mart airsoft guns. since then, our lives kindda shifted a little.

we thought we could surprise rommel by showing up with airsoft guns at his house. those days become our first skrimages. then, the more we learned about airsoft, the more educated we became as far as purchasing high end quality ones. that brought us to toys and joys and we met up with some of the coolest peeps we would get to know, people that had the same passion for airsoft as us. at that point, toys and joys could not keep up with our demands. so for his credit, rommel was one of the first to order online at cobraairsoft.com(from our group and for our group). we soon followed his footsteps and we immediately became online purchasing addicts. lots of credit cards were being maxed out and hong kong was profiting from guam's businesses.

then came our actual tournaments. it's not easy when you have 20 different opinions coming from both ears. rommel was calm and still...always the guy getting the group together. he was the peace maker...almost the complete shot callah haha. but at least it was organized to that point. if not for him and signking, i don't think some of us would be sporting some of the stickers and banners we see today in, 6mm, warfreak, ESBA, and eventually A.E.G.

let's not forget the upcoming tournament this late july. rommel knew that he wouldn't be here for that event but he still decided to help the group coordinate what must be done. shit man...rommel is like a older brother to some of us, and i speak for those that have only whispered it in my ear. but yeah, airsoft guam owes a lot of gratitude to one of it's original founders. rommel...the guy with the noisy g3...the guy who made us think twice about rushing into a enclosed room going up against a guy with a 450fps gun at nearly point blank. he's the guy who can also take bb's in his gum. that's all minor injuries to him.

hey man rommel...we'll miss u doot....airsoft will miss u...i don't mean to get sentimental here but this is legite stuff!! don't let the navy change u. when u do come back to visit again, airsoft extreme guam will still be here to stay. just don't forget to Eat, Sleep, n Breathe Airsoft...just like old times.

HOOAaaHH!!!

I second what Ernesto said...

Rommel got me back into skirmishing airsoft because I only played around casually with my brother's guns in the states. He bugged me for two or three weekends straight..."what you're doing at 8AM Saturday" "come on it'll be fun" So for the next three Saturdays, I showed up with no sleep from the night before, no camo or gear, a borrowed gun and had a hell of a good time.

At that time at GMH, there was a large group of 14 or so guys playing already. Rommel made sure I got introduced to everyone and he was considerate enough to supply me with some RedBull. I was just glad I had enough skillz as to not embarrass him those first few weekends.

After that, we spend countless hours after work checking out guns and parts online, watching videos online, discussing tactics, or working on his gun. I was there the first (of many many) time that he disassembled his G3 gun and gearbox.

We learned a lot during those times and had a lot of laughs.

So thanks Rommel, you will be missed bro...

wow i didnt know rommel was leaving? damn, anyways yea i didnt know him too long either just since GMH when my friend majuni brought me along to play. i thought i might not get along with anyone, but rommel (and manny) was the first to welcome me, tell me to go gear up at the last house. the tenseness lifted and i thought these guys are cool, being nice to noob like myself...in the middle of battle if i need bbs or a battery i could count on him, vice versa...so its bummer we won't have a good comrade to play with(at least for a while) good luck out there rommel!
